Are you ready for CMMC Compliance?
Over 300,000 companies across the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) must meet the CMMC standards for cybersecurity.
Breaches cost the U.S. economy more than $600 billion per year, threaten national security, and empower adversaries.
By 2026, every contractor seeking to do business with the Department of Defense must have at least a Level 1 CMMC.
What is CMMC?
The “Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification” (CMMC) is a new Department of Defense (DoD) program to verify that contractors are protecting their controlled unclassified information (CUI).
In the past, only companies with contracts involving the handling of CUI were required to meet cybersecurity standards. CMMC 2.0 now allows for some company self-assessments, depending on the contractor’s relationship with the DoD. However, most companies will require an authorized CMMC Third Party Assessment Organization (3CPAO) to perform an audit to ensure they are certified to the proper CMMC level.
You will be subjected to a third-party assessment to see whether you meet your contract’s cybersecurity criteria.
Benefits of CMMC
CMMC stands for Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification. It is a framework created by the United States Department of Defense (DoD) to ensure that companies that work with the DoD meet specific cybersecurity standards.
Companies that work with the DoD and handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) must be CMMC certified. This includes prime contractors and subcontractors at all supply chain tiers.
Companies that do not meet the CMMC requirements may be unable to bid on or win contracts with the DoD, and may lose existing contracts. Additionally, non-compliance with CMMC requirements can result in reputational damage and legal liability in the event of a cybersecurity incident.
